There is also a large silver "dot" on the front of the helmet, but we don't know what that means.
The original leather layer is intact, with wear and tear expected from time and long service. There is definitely sweat-related degradation in all leather goods. The felt rug under the wall is still held in place by the leather covering. The original leather upper strap is still present, although one of the upper pad loops is missing.
The canvas chin strap is a little worn but still solid. There are some stains but no tears and the brass buckle and clip are correct and intact.
