Osu Unmanned Aircraft Flight Station - Vigilant Aerospace recently conducted a live demonstration flight of FlightHorizon GCS using two unmanned aerial vehicles to demonstrate and document the complete safety life cycle of detect, track, predict, avoid and recover capabilities during multiple flights. The demonstration took place in the short video below (1 minute 15 seconds) that shows flight instructions and commands issued by FlightHorizon alongside footage of flight operations: These demonstration flights were conducted by the Vigilant Aerospace team in late May 2017 CLA was conducted in Russia. Drone Flight Station, assisted by OSU and Aerospace licensed drone pilots. Demonstration and recording flights were conducted using FlightHorizon GCS. During the demonstration flight, the screen was recorded, the flight was recorded and the aircraft was locked in a video production maneuver based on the software recommendations due to collision. Advice comes in the form of visual and audible warnings and commands. The equipment includes two DJI Phantom 4 drones, each equipped with uAvionix Ping2020 transponders and PingEFB receivers on the ground, providing data to FlightHorizon GCS. Of particular interest is the documentation (including a 90-second video) of updates and new features of FlightHorizon, produced after the most recent NASA BVLOS flight test in December 2016. These flights are primarily focused on displaying updated tracking, flow and resolution recommendations, as well as faster login and other configurable options recently added to FlightHorizon.

Vigilant Aerospace recently demonstrated the systems full life cycle detection, tracking, prediction, avoidance and recovery capabilities at Oklahoma State University's Drone Flight Facility.
Avoidance commands provided by FlightHorizon and implemented by pilots have been demonstrated in several flights between small UAVs.
In these videos, native and insurgent aircraft are seen on the right side of the screen followed by real-time sound and light cues from the software, which can be seen on the left side of the screen.

The Oklahoma State University Unmanned Aircraft Flight Station (OSU UAFS) is an Unmanned Aircraft Systems (UAS) flight test and development facility located 12 miles east of Stillwater and consists of 2 runways (600 ft by 400 ft), an aircraft hangar and a state contains State-of-the-art control room with monitoring capabilities. Alert Aerospace Systems recently participated in the first flight of an unmanned aircraft under a new FAA license granted to Oklahoma State University. The permit allows drones to fly in a 13-mile corridor in central Oklahoma, beyond the pilot's line of sight. Generally, the drone only needs to fly within the remote pilot's line of sight. During the initial 3-mile test flight, Vigilant Aerospace used FlightHorizon's airspace security and detection-avoidance systems to provide drone pilots and flight crews with traffic alerts and situational awareness. The flight was launched from the Oklahoma State University Unmanned Aircraft Flight Station by members of the Oklahoma State University Unmanned Systems Institute flying an Anaconda fixed-wing drone. During the flight, the FlightHorizon system tracked 17 reconnaissance aircraft flying over central Oklahoma and provided real-time visual and audio alerts. Based on an exclusively licensed NASA patent, the FlightHorizon system uses aircraft transponders and telemetry to track aircraft, predict collisions and send remote instructions to pilots and pilots. The company is currently adding small radars to the system. The new permit represents a major industry milestone and will allow universities and partners such as Vigilant Aerospace to develop safety procedures for remote drone flights. These flights are needed for things like pipeline inspections and utility lines. FlightHorizon is currently used by multiple agencies across the United States for drone safety, including the FAA's Unified Pilot Program flights in North Dakota and Alaska and NASA's commercial supersonic technology flight tests.
